Our Top Tips for Pumpkin Picking in Manchester
We want to make your pumpkin-picking experience as easy as possible. Which is why we’re listing all our top tips, so you can have an enjoyable afternoon!
- Visit a local pumpkin patch: If you want to support your local farms, check out our pumpkin picking finder to find the nearest to you!
- Go early in the season: For the best pumpkin selection and to avoid the crowds, try to go pumpkin picking early in the season.
- Check opening hours: Make sure to check the pumpkin patch’s opening hours and any special events they may have planned. Also, book your tickets in advance! You don’t want to be denied entry because you didn’t pre-book.
- Dress up warm: We suggest wearing comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Pumpkin patches can be muddy…and we don’t want any unhappy faces.
- Bring Cash: Some pumpkin patches may not accept cards, so it’s a good idea to have cash on hand. And from personal experience, it’s always nice to treat yourself to some autumnal goodies that are on offer at the pumpkin patch!
- Bring sturdy bags: Bring your own bags, baskets, or a wagon to carry your pumpkins. Some patches may provide these, but it’s best to be prepared, no one wants to lug a pumpkin around the whole day!
- Make sure to check your pumpkins: Check each pumpkin for blemishes, soft spots, and other imperfections. We recommend picking pumpkins that are firm and free from rot – so they’ll last until Halloween!
