Our Arrival & First Impressions

Meeting friends at the gorilla

we have always loved chessington as a family. It is clean, staff are friendly and rides are great for our young children.

This time we suprised our children by "bumping into" their friends and spending the day together. We both used different entrances to make sure we didn't spoil the suprise in the queue.

Activities Breakdown

Big kids on log flume together
Paw patrol land pup tower slide

We made sure to visit the new paw patrol land for the little ones who are 3.

The queues were long even with our ride access pass so do be wary of wait times. These were the longest queues we have ever experienced at chessington. However they did love it and there is a little park, as big slide and some food options to break the ride queues up!

Our older 2 kids said they didn't want to come to paw patrol land so we split up so they could go on some bigger rides. However when they came to meet us they did indeed want to get involved and went on a couple of things! Haha

  1. 1

    Gruffalo

The gruffalo ride is our all time favourite family ride. It is so sweet and quite a long ride that makes the queue time feel worth it. The water / lights / drops in the slides etc make it so fun for everyone. We always go on this at least twice
  2. 2

    The little log flume

We all went on this quite a few times. You can fit 2 in a boat so either the older 2 kids went together and an adult with a toddler or an adult with one of the children. The wait time is probably one of the longest but you get better even than the big log flume. So on a hot day the kids loved it
    Little log flume
  3. 3

    Room in the broom

For Julia Donaldson lovers the room on the broom walk through is very sweet. There is never much of a queue and you walk around at your own leisure. Even though probably aimed more at younger children / toddlers , our 8 year old still enjoyed it as it is interactive. It is DARK AND COLD perfect for a hot day haha

Food & Drink

We take a picnic so do not buy and food at the park. We have bought hot dogs in front of the carrousel and been to the fish and chip restaurant before and would not recommend either. Pricey and not very nice.

If a picnic is what you decide to do the perfect place is infront in the room on the broom ride where there is a grass field with trees for some shade. Perfect to have a sit down and a rest and the kids can be free to have a run about.

We always buy ice creams either from a gift shop or a carte dor stand.

Money-Saving Tip

Take a picnic!

Pros & Cons Summary

Positive

What We Loved

  • TickVampire ride is excellent. My 8 year old loves it.
  • TickThere is alot of benches to have a rest if need be and shady spots
  • TickThe park is small enough to do everything that you want to do in one day and big enough to fill the whole day
  • TickGetting in and out the car park is very easy. Pre book the car park ticket online
  • TickGreat for mixed ages. Rides for babies up to adults
Negative

Could Be Better

  • CrossThe loading and unloading of the paw patrol rides seemed painfully slow compared to all other rides which seemed to make wait times long. Perhaps because they are new and staff are still getting used to them?
  • CrossThere's does unfortunately seem to be less animals in the zoo part every time we visit
  • CrossCar parking is quite expensive at £13

Overall Verdict & Ratings

A Tried & Tested - Day Out With The Kids
Safety & Cleanliness4.0

Toilets were being cleaned whenever we went in and the over all park tidiness seemed good

Rides & Entertainment5.0

There is just somthing for everyone which is why we love it here

Food & Drink2.0

Apart from ice creams we wouldn't recommend buying food here

Queues & Crowds3.0

Compared to other parks the queues aren't too bad. The app is brilliant to use to get the most out of the day by going on the lowest wait times.

Fun & Delight5.0

We love it

Value for Money5.0

We actually used Tesco club card vouchers to pay for some of the tickets this year to take the sting out of it

The Final Verdict:

We will be visiting again and always recommend
