Pumpkin Picking at The Barn At Berryfields

Five acres of pumpkin field is a lot of ground for one family to cover, and Berryfields plants it with orange, white, green, classic, novelty and giant pumpkins and squashes in every shape and size. If the weather turns there is a large indoor pumpkin barn to pick from instead, so a wet forecast does not write off the day.

Admission covers more than the field. Every ticket includes the five-acre patch and the indoor pumpkin barn, seeing and feeding the farm animals, the Halloween displays and photo opportunities, and access to the street food and bar area. There is a maze to walk and a Halloween shop for spooky essentials. Pumpkins themselves are not included and are priced separately by size and variety, starting from about £3.

Two paid extras sit alongside the patch. An Eco-Skating synthetic ice rink is decorated with lights and spooky faces, and axe-throwing cages are open to adults and to children, bookable only on the day. Food comes from an award-winning handmade street food kitchen doing breakfast baps, loaded chips, smashed burgers and wraps, with a bar serving draught beer, wine, cocktails, hot chocolate and soft drinks.

Arrival is by timed slot rather than open all day, so you pick a time when you book. Advance booking is strongly recommended, though a limited number of tickets may be sold on arrival while they remain available. Wellies or sturdy waterproof footwear are strongly recommended in wet weather. The main Events Barn, indoor pumpkin area, food and drink area, toilets and much of the central event site are accessible to wheelchairs and pushchairs, and well-behaved dogs are welcome on a short lead.
