Suffolk Pumpkin Patch at Barton Mills

Over thirty varieties are grown in the fields here, which is what separates a patch like this from a pallet of orange pumpkins outside a shop. You pick your own, wheelbarrows are provided for the carrying, and carving is available on site with the tools sold there.

New for 2026 is a forty-four-metre observation wheel, with a ride of about ten minutes giving views over the whole patch. Alongside it are fairground-style rides suitable for younger and older children, a nine-hole Halloween mini golf course laid out with ghosts, skeletons and pumpkin obstacles, space hoppers to race and photo points including pumpkin cut-outs, scarecrow frames and field backdrops. The mini golf, the hoppers and the photo points are all included in the ticket.

Because the patch stays open into the evening, it works as an afternoon-into-dark visit as much as a morning one. There is a bar serving draught beer, mulled cider and mulled wine along with prosecco, cocktails, spirits and soft drinks, and a street food area with local vendors rotating through.

Some dates carry something extra. Baby Dino Days run on Sunday 11 October and Wednesday 28 October, and a K-Pop Demon Hunters afternoon runs on Saturday 17 October, so it is worth looking at which date suits your children before choosing one.

Parking is free and does not need booking, but tickets do: the patch strongly recommends buying in advance, since on-the-day tickets are limited and cost more. Well-behaved dogs are welcome throughout on a lead, the paths suit pushchairs and wheelchairs, and some of the field is uneven.
