About Kynren
Step into a world of stories, legends and adventure at Kynren – The Storied Lands, the UK’s first live-action show park.
Opening in summer 2026 in Bishop Auckland, County Durham, this exciting new family attraction combines spectacular live entertainment, immersive experiences and larger-than-life storytelling to create a day out unlike any other.
With five major attractions included in one ticket, families can enjoy a packed day of entertainment, action and discovery.
Watch magnificent birds soar overhead in The Lost Feather, a breathtaking live show featuring more than 250 birds and telling a powerful story about mankind’s relationship with birds and the importance of conservation. Rare, exotic and native free-flying species including pelicans, scarlet ibis, African crowned cranes, owls, vultures, soaring birds of prey and colourful macaws, this spectacular production showcases the beauty, intelligence and wonder of the avian world.
Follow the story of a fearless female warrior and her horse in The Trusty Steed. Set against the backdrop of a medieval tournament under the authority of Bishop Bek, this spectacular arena show features breathtaking horsemanship, thrilling stunts and a lively troupe of travelling acrobats. At its heart is the extraordinary bond between a warrior and her steed as they dare to challenge expectations and forge their own destiny.
Experience the legendary tale of the Lambton Worm brought to life on a vast lake in Legend of the Wear. Inspired by one of the North East's best-loved myths, this spectacular live show combines storytelling, action, water effects and special effects in a dramatic retelling of the legend of the fearsome Lambton Worm
One of the most popular areas of the park is the immersive Viking Settlement. Hear the roar of the Vikings as you enter a bustling Viking world where history comes vividly to life. Feel the heat and watch sparks fly from the blacksmith's forge, see weavers and woodcarvers practising traditional crafts, hear thunderous battle cries and witness dramatic shield wall demonstrations as warriors prepare for what lies ahead.
Then take your seat for the all-new Land of the Vikings. Drums echo and tensions rise as a Viking community is torn between peace and conquest. Fire rages, shields clash and warriors fight for their future in an action-packed spectacle inspired by Norse history and legend.
Families can also explore Victorian Imaginariums, an immersive hedge maze packed with surprises. Follow winding pathways towards the Professor's Imaginarium as larger-than-life Victorian characters appear around every corner. Meet a host of unforgettable characters, each with their own stories, secrets and unexpected adventures to share.
Younger adventurers can let their imaginations run wild in the Neolithic-themed play area, inspired by Britain's earliest settlers. Designed especially for children, it provides the perfect place to climb, play and explore between attractions.
Throughout the day, families can enjoy a range of food and drink outlets, picnic areas and places to relax while taking in the unique atmosphere of the park.
Set within beautifully landscaped surroundings, Kynren – The Storied Lands has been designed as a place where families can spend an entire day together, moving between spectacular shows, immersive experiences, interactive environments and places to play, relax and explore.
Unlike a traditional attraction where you simply wander from one exhibit to the next, every visit to Kynren – The Storied Lands is shaped around live performances, immersive environments and memorable storytelling. Whether you're watching birds soar through the sky, cheering on medieval knights, discovering Viking traditions or navigating the twists and turns of the maze, every part of the day has been designed to spark imagination and create lasting family memories.
For families looking to extend their visit, Kynren – An Epic Tale of England takes place on Saturday evenings throughout the season, plus selected Friday nights. This award-winning live-action night show is performed on a vast 7.5-acre stage by a cast and crew of 1,000 volunteers. Beginning at sunset and ending beneath the stars, audiences join Young Arthur on a spellbinding journey through 2,000 years of history, myth and legend.
Along the way, visitors encounter Roman legions, Viking warriors, medieval knights, magnificent horses, sheep, geese and other animals, brought to life through stunning special effects, daring stunts, pyrotechnics and a spectacular fireworks finale.
Whether you visit for a day, an evening, or combine both experiences, Kynren offers an unforgettable family day out packed with excitement, imagination and world-class live entertainment.
Rooted in the Anglo-Saxon word "cynren," meaning generation, kin, or family, Kynren is a story brought to life by a passionate community, making it as meaningful as it is entertaining.
