About Hitchin Swimming Centre
Hitchin Swimming Centre - now operated by Everyone Active on behalf of North Herts Council - is one of Hertfordshire's best-loved family swimming destinations, offering both indoor and outdoor pools to suit every season.
The outdoor lido is the star of the show in summer: a 50-metre heated pool open from late May through to September, with a smaller shallow pool for younger children, a large sunbathing terrace, grassy areas perfect for picnics and games, and an outdoor play area for little ones. It's the kind of place families return to year after year.
Inside, the 25-metre, 8-lane heated indoor pool keeps things going all year round, with a wide range of sessions including lane swimming, family swims, aqua fitness classes, and the AquaEd Swim School for children and adults learning to swim.
The Archers Health and Fitness Club rounds things out nicely for adults, with an 80-station Technogym fitness suite, steam room, sauna, and three multi-purpose fitness studios. The Splash Café is on hand for hot and cold drinks and snacks when you need to refuel.
Easy disabled access and pool hoists are available throughout.
Swim Outdoors, Whatever the Summer Brings
Hitchin's 50-metre outdoor lido is one of Hertfordshire's finest - a proper sun-trap with a heated pool, a shallow toddler pool, grassy banks for lounging, and an outdoor play area to keep little ones busy between dips. Open from late May through to September, it's the kind of classic British summer day out that families come back to every year.
Something for Every Swimmer, All Year Round
Rain stopped play outside? No problem. The 25-metre indoor pool runs sessions 365 days a year, from early-morning lane swimming to family splash sessions and toddler classes. With AquaEd swimming lessons for children and adults, aqua fitness classes, and a full gym and fitness studios on site, there's always a reason to visit - whatever the weather.
A Full Family Day Out, Not Just a Swim
Hitchin Swimming Centre is more than a pool. Pack a picnic for the lido's grassy areas, grab a bite at the Splash Café, and let the kids burn off energy in the outdoor play area while you soak up the sun on the terrace. With accessible facilities throughout and a toddler pool both indoors and out, it works for the whole family - from babies to grandparents.
