Pumpkinfest at Park Hall Countryside Experience

The pumpkin is included here, which is unusual. Every paying child gets one at no extra cost, chooses it in the farm's large pumpkin shed, carves it there and takes it home, so there is no second bill waiting at the end of the day.

Pumpkinfest sits on top of the whole farm attraction rather than beside it. The Halloween parts are Pumpkin Alley, The Little Scare House and a Spooky Trail, with games such as Pass the Pumpkin and Mummy Wrap running through the day. Everything else the farm does is covered by the same ticket.

That everything is a long list: indoor and outdoor play areas, barrel train rides, tractor rides, the farm animals, a planet room and a science area, and the First World War trenches that form part of the site. It is the reason a visit here tends to fill a day rather than a morning.

The event runs on selected dates through early October and then daily across half term to 1 November. Booking online rather than paying on site saves £2 a head, which adds up quickly for a family of four.
