Pumpkin Picking at Drewton's

Four acres of pumpkin field sit next to the farm shop car park on the Drewton Estate, which makes the walk from car to first row a short one. Over forty varieties grow here, so families who arrive wanting something other than the standard orange globe have plenty to sort through, from the very large down to the small and knobbly.

Picking is free to enter and you pay only for the pumpkins you carry away. Once you have chosen, there is a carving area set up on site, and the Pumpkin Shack, a pop-up cabin in the field, serves hot soup, snacks and refreshments while you work. Autumn backdrops are arranged around the patch for photographs.

There is more to the visit than the pumpkins. An Enchanted Fairy Walk runs alongside the field, and a foraging field is open to explore as part of the same trip. Estate walks start from the same site if you want to stretch the afternoon out.

Dogs are welcome on leads, and the farm asks that you bring poo bags. The farm shop is open through the week, and The Kitchen restaurant serves brunch, lunch and afternoon tea, though booking is advised if you plan to eat there rather than in the field. Most families find one to two hours is enough for the patch itself.
