What to Expect...
Essington Farm is a working fruit and vegetable farm on Bognop Road, on the north east edge of Wolverhampton, and the pumpkin patch is one part of a year round farm shop and tea room operation rather than a pop up field. That shows in how the ticket is structured: entry is only £3 a head, and the farm gives you a 10% farm shop voucher with it, valid for a month on full priced items. The economics clearly assume you will walk back through the shop afterwards, and most people do.
The pumpkin field is open 9.30am to 3pm, which is a short window compared with many patches, and entry is ticketed only, so you cannot simply arrive. Tickets are sold through Beyonk and the farm has said more dates and time slots may be released through October, so if your preferred slot is gone it is worth checking again rather than giving up. Booking comes with the flexibility to reschedule up to two days before.
Dates for 2026 are 10 and 11 October, 17 and 18 October, and then 24 to 31 October, which covers the West Midlands half term week. Face painting and pumpkin carving run on selected days.
Two honest caveats. Pets are not permitted in the pumpkin field, so this is not the dog friendly option. And the pumpkin is not included: entry is £3, pumpkins start at £2.50 and are paid for separately, so a family of four picking one pumpkin each is realistically looking at more than the headline price. The field is farm ground, so wear boots you do not mind ruining.
Event Highlights
Three pound entry and a farm shop voucher
Tickets are £3 per person and include a 10% farm shop voucher valid for a month on full priced items. Children aged 3 and under are free and do not need a ticket at all, which makes this one of the cheaper ways into a Midlands pumpkin field.
A short, sharp 9.30am to 3pm window
The pumpkin field opens at 9.30am and closes at 3pm on event days. That is a tighter window than most patches, so a lazy start followed by a long lunch will not work here. Book an earlier slot if you want a full run of the field.
Face painting and carving on selected days
Essington runs face painting and pumpkin carving on selected dates during the season rather than every day, so check which day you are booking if those are the reason you are coming rather than a bonus.
