Bath Pumpkin Patch at Newton Farm, Newbridge Road, Bath

The Bath Pumpkin Patch is run by Newton Farm Shop and Cafe, and it sits in a field just off Newbridge Road on the western edge of Bath rather than at the farm shop itself. For 2026 it covers twenty acres and carries thirty varieties of pumpkins and gourds, all grown on the farm by Farmer Josh and the team rather than trucked in and arranged for photographs.

The thing that sets it apart in this part of the West Country is the pricing. Entry is free and parking is free, and the farm's own line is simply 'Free entry, just pay for what you pick'. You still need a ticket, booked free of charge through Eventbrite, because that is how the farm spreads arrivals across the day. That combination is unusual. Most patches around Bath and Bristol charge a per head or per car admission before you have picked anything, which turns a casual half hour into a committed afternoon. Here you can call in, pick two small pumpkins and leave without feeling you have wasted a ticket.

Thirty varieties across twenty acres means a genuine walk rather than a corner of a field, and there is scope to hunt for something other than the standard orange carving pumpkin. Alongside the picking there are tractor trailer rides, the Newton Farm food truck, and photo spots set up through the patch. The Eventbrite listing also mentions pumpkin painting and autumn treats.

One thing to plan around. The farm allows only assistance dogs inside the farm shop and cafe, though other dogs are welcome in its extensive outside seating area. And this is a working field in October, so wellies rather than trainers, and expect the ground to soften after rain. Opening is weekends through October plus every day during half term, with the season starting on Saturday 3 October 2026.
