Splashdown Quaywest Waterpark
Paignton, DevonAbout Splashdown Quaywest Waterpark
Splashdown Quaywest is the UK's largest all-outdoor waterpark, sitting right next to Goodrington Sands beach on Devon's English Riviera - meaning you can combine a full day on the slides with a classic British beach day, all in one trip.
With 11 adrenaline-pumping flumes and slides rated from easy to severe, there's a ride for every member of the family. Thrill-seekers can take on Devil's Drop - a 65ft near-vertical plunge through a black hole and the highest, fastest flume in the UK - or race through the Wild Kamikaze's three steep drops and the bullet-speed The Screamer. For those who prefer something a little less heart-stopping, Raging Rapids, Surf Lagoon, Corkscrew, and Wet and Wild deliver plenty of waterslide fun without the white-knuckle factor.
Younger children are brilliantly catered for at Captain Lewey's Shipwreck Island, a giant pirate-themed aqua play arena added in 2024 and designed specifically for children under 12. With 7 named slides - including Cannon Blast, Jolly Roger Racer, Parrot's Plunge, Orca Splash, Tidal Wave, Tropical Twister and Captain Lewey's Loop - plus spray arms, a rainbow water circle and the legendary tipping bucket, little ones will be as entertained as the big kids.
When you need a breather, the 20m swimming pool is perfect for cooling off, and onsite you'll find Boarders Restaurant, Sunrise Beach and Snack Shop, a Costa Coffee right on the beachfront, and the award-winning Marshfield Farm Ice Cream Counter. Birthday parties, school visits, corporate hire and private hire are all available - and booking in advance online gets you the best ticket prices.
The UK's Biggest Outdoor Waterpark
With 11 flumes and slides ranging from beginner-friendly to genuinely terrifying, Splashdown Quaywest holds the title of the UK's largest all-outdoor waterpark. From the 65ft Devil's Drop - the highest and fastest flume in the country - to the gentler Corkscrew and Wet and Wild, every thrill level is covered. All slides are rated by difficulty so you can plan your day before you even arrive.
Shipwreck Island - Built for Little Ones
Captain Lewey's Shipwreck Island is a dedicated aqua play zone designed for children under 12, added to the park in 2024. Seven individually named slides, interactive spray features, a rainbow water circle, and the famous tipping bucket make this a highlight for families with younger children - and the shallow exit depth of 0.4m means parents can relax while the kids go wild.
Beach, Slides, and Everything In Between
Quaywest's location right alongside Goodrington Sands is genuinely rare - you get a world-class waterpark and a proper Devon beach in a single day out. After the slides, cool down in the 20m swimming pool, grab an ice cream from the Marshfield Farm counter, or settle in at Costa Coffee on the beachfront. It's the kind of day that keeps the whole family happy from arrival to home time.
