Pumpkin Picking at Bincombe Bumps

Billed as a Halloween Spooktacular October Pumpkin Festival, this is a straightforward patch on a working farm at Lower Bincombe, just off the A354 as it runs into Weymouth. The patch is free to enter, so what you spend is what you choose to take home.

Pumpkin picking is the main activity, but it is not the only one. A haunted house forms part of the event, there is a trick or treat activity running alongside the picking, and outdoor play areas for children who need to keep moving once the pumpkins are chosen.

Drinks, lunches and seasonal sweet treats are served on site, so a picnic is optional, and dogs on leads are welcome. Taken together it suits a couple of hours rather than a full day, which makes it an easy addition to a weekend already heading towards the coast.

One thing to sort in advance. No prices are published on the venue's website, which points visitors to its Facebook page for more information instead, so it is worth checking what the pumpkins and any of the activities cost before you set off, particularly if you are bringing a group. The same site also runs a Christmas event and one called The Bincombe Bolt, so make sure the dates you are looking at are the October ones.
