Pumpkin Picking at Farmer Copleys

Scale is what sets this festival apart: the farm says over 300,000 pumpkins have been grown on site for 2026, across more than 40 different varieties. The family has farmed here for more than 150 years and opened the farm to visitors in 2003, and the festival now fills the fields between Pontefract and Featherstone from late September through to the start of November.

Tractor rides run out through the pumpkin fields, and the programme around them is unusually full. There are live shows and entertainment, archery, vintage fairground rides, Witches' Storytime and magical performances, and a fancy dress competition every day. Selected evenings bring live country music. Photo spots include the Pumpkin House and a vintage Chevy truck.

Food stalls and cafes are open alongside the farm shop, so you can eat on site rather than packing a picnic. Sunday 1 November is a fireworks night and closes the festival.

Tickets must be booked in advance online to secure entry, and prices vary by day and by age with peak and off-peak rates. Children aged 3 and under go free and do not need a ticket at all. Pumpkins are not included; you choose yours in the field and pay by size. Parking is free and included in your ticket. Wellies, boots and waterproofs are worth packing, especially after rain, as the fields get muddy and access is weather dependent, although heavy duty track mats run through the main areas. Well behaved dogs are welcome on a lead.
