Best Things To Do & Days Out In Newcastle upon Tyne

From science to space-themed golf, there are lots of fun things to do in Newcastle upon Tyne

with kids, it's a great spot for a family day out or even a day trip.

One of our go-to places in the city is the Life Science Centre - full of activities and exhibitions for curious little explorers, it’s a great family attraction you can visit any time of the year. There are Life Science Explainers on-site to help answer any nagging questions your kids might have, plus the centre is well-known for hosting great family events throughout the year. All the more reason to go back over and over again!

Think your kids would like coming face to face with a T-Rex skeleton? Go to the family friendly Great North Museum where you’ll also get to meet a full-sized elephant, objects from Ancient Greece and more.

If you and your little ones share a love of books, Seven Stories, the UK’s first children’s book museum, is a must-do in Newcastle upon Tyne. The walls are lined with shelves full of books to discover and there’s a dress up area, plus lots of activities, including craft times, illustrations and story time.

For more indoor fun in Newcastle upon Tyne, challenge the whole family to a round of mini golf at Mr Mulligan's Newcastle and enjoy a space-themed putting adventure.

Fancy spending some time outdoors? Enjoy a casual family walk at Exhibition Park, or maybe travel to one of the local landmarks, such as Hadiran’s Wall. You might even consider hopping across to Gateshead to do some sightseeing and take a picture at the Gateshead Millennium Bridge!

There are plenty more fun family days out in Newcastle upon Tyne but if you don’t mind going a bit further on your next day out, you might want to consider a trip to Beamish Open Air Museum. Once you step into the world of Beamish, you’ll find yourself transported to North East England between the 1820s and the 1950s. It’s an award-winning experience, don’t miss out!

To help you plan more great family days out this year, here’s a list of the UK school holiday dates.
