Broad Haven, Pembrokeshire

Amen! This dog-friendly beach in Pembrokeshire is a golden ticket for dog owners. Not only does this beach allow dogs all year round, it’s flat golden sands are the perfect terrain to race, throw, and leap around with your furry companion. And hey, if you wanna have a competitive game of bowls or cricket it’s even more ideal!

Explore the boulders and the ‘island’ on the west side of the beach to discover caves and springs gushing out of the cliffs. The convoluted low cliffs on the east side have a few small caves at low tide.

It’s one of many beautiful beaches in Wales that dogs are allowed to visit. Wales generally is a dog-friendly place and there are many other great contenders for our top picks. We recommend visiting Little Quay (Cei Bach) in Ceredigion!

If you and your furry friend enjoy exploring cute coves, stunning views and craggy rocks then Jackson’s Bay is an idyllic place to check out. This golden sand beach has no dog restrictions whatsoever, so you can enjoy frolicking on the beaches all year round!

Please note that the sea here can have strong currents so if you’ve got a seadog on your hands, make sure they are a very strong swimmer. Some of the cliff rocks are unstable to so watch out for where you step or climb.

Enjoy both a pebbly and sandy beach at Little Quay Beach in West Wales. There are miles of rugged coastline to navigate through right from the shoreline at this majestic spot.

The car park is just 1/2 a mile away from the popular beach and is located in the woods. Just follow the stream to the rockpools and you’ll soon find your way onto the beach.

There are no restrictions whatsoever for dogs, so they can roam freely for hours and hours. Psst, there are also heritage trails on offer too!

Porthdinllaen Beach, Gwynedd

Looking for a walk with some character? Head over to the northern end of the Lleyn peninsula and park up in the charming fishing village of Porth Dinllaen. Soak up the beautiful views of the Irish Sea with your four-legged companion and relax post-walk in the dog-friendly Ty Coch Inn.

This sandy bay is sheltered by the rugged, bracken-covered Carreg Ddu headland. It is also a sweet spot that overlooks one the largest seagrass meadows in Wales!

This beach has seasonal dog restrictions from 1st April to 30th September.

Planning an excursion with your pooch in North Wales? Church Bay in Anglesey is both a sand and pebble beach that offers outstanding natural beauty. Your walk will begin from a steep footpath that weaves through the village and onto Church Bay Beach. You’ll pass by quaint shops, 100ft cliffs, and lots of rockpools.

Church Bay is also a blue-flag beach! There are lots of great amenities nearby too like public toilets and a cliff-top restaurant. The Lobster Pot! Aside from dog walkers, Church Bay is the perfect spot for swimming sailing and fishing!

From the beginning of May to the end of September dogs are not allowed on the near part of the beach while dogs on leads are allowed on the other part.

Saundersfoot, Pembrokeshire

The main area of the beach is flat and wide, perfect for running and throwing balls for your pups. There are some restrictions in the main stretch of sand from 10 am and 5 pm from 1st May to 30th September. However, if you carry on walking to the North side of the beach there is a smaller stretch of land that allows dogs all year round. This secluded beach is a great place for your dog to play, socialise and swim with other dogs.

There are many great walks to be had in the nearby town of Saunderfoot. Make sure you check out Wiseman’s Bridge. The beautiful medieval town of Tenby is just an 8-minute drive from Saunderfoot too.

Saundersfoot Harbour is a delightful place to book a staycation with your kids and pets as there are beaches, shops, restaurants, arcades, walks, pubs, mackerel fishing activities, and more all located within walking distance from one another. It is a dog-friendly haven!

Burry Port, Carmarthenshire

You can cycle, swim, shop and build sandcastles galore at both beaches on either side of the marina at Burry Port in Carmarthenshire.

Backed by dunes and jaw-dropping views of the coast, this wonderful beach is just five minutes from a bakery, railway station and a few pubs. And it was also the beach where Amelia Earhart landed after becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean!

Burry Port is one of many sandy beaches suitable for families and dogs. And what’s more? Not only are dogs allowed in the harbour and on the beach but there is even some ‘doggy bear’ (water from a barrel) on offer at the Harbour Light Tearoom near the beach.
