What to Expect...

Explore one of London’s most memorable family days out with tickets to Kew Gardens. Set across a 320-acre UNESCO World Heritage Site in Richmond, Kew brings together world-famous glasshouses, beautiful gardens, nature play and historic buildings for a day with plenty to discover.

Start with the iconic Palm House and Temperate House, where pathways lead through remarkable collections of tropical and temperate plants. Then head up to the Treetop Walkway for elevated views across the Gardens, before giving younger visitors time to run, climb and explore in the Children’s Garden. Designed for children aged 2 to 12, it turns big nature ideas into hands-on play.

Kew is ideal when your family wants more than a quick walk. There is room to wander at your own pace, find seasonal colour, pause for a café break and choose the parts of the Gardens that suit your day. Galleries and selected historic buildings add another layer to the visit, while Kew Palace is included when it is open.

The Gardens are pushchair-friendly, with accessible facilities and a wide choice of routes, making them a practical option for families with children of different ages. Expect to spend around three to four hours here, although there is easily enough to fill a longer day if you want to take things slowly.

Your daytime ticket includes access to the main Gardens, glasshouses, galleries, the Treetop Walkway and family attractions open on your chosen date. Parking and separately ticketed seasonal or out-of-hours events are not included. Check the latest opening times, entry requirements and any planned closures before travelling.

It is a strong choice for families who want a full outdoor day with space to roam, seasonal interest throughout the year, and plenty of buggy-friendly routes. For more nature-filled family ideas, see our parks and gardens days out.
