Colchester Zoo, now part of Colchester Zoological Society, is one of Essex’s best family days out, with 60 acres of parkland, animal habitats, play areas, food stops and conservation-led experiences to explore.

Families can see everything from African elephants, giraffes and rhinos to red pandas, penguins, orangutans, Komodo dragons, sun bears and big cats. There are daily talks and feeds, walkthrough areas, play spaces and plenty of places to stop for food, snacks or a picnic.
