This is the kind of day out that the whole family will be talking about for weeks!
Wander through Burghley’s award-winning gardens where tranquil pathways, seasonal colour, striking sculptures and imaginative landscaping create a truly unforgettable outdoor escape. Discover the enchanting Garden of Surprises, packed with bubbling fountains, hidden grottos, mirrored mazes and playful water features inspired by Elizabethan design and classical mythology. Then explore the stunning Sculpture Garden, where contemporary artworks sit beautifully amongst sweeping flower borders, wildflower banks and Capability Brown’s iconic landscapes.
For younger adventurers, Hide & Secrets Adventure Play is an absolute must. This huge woodland-themed play area is inspired by William Cecil, Lord Burghley and Queen Elizabeth I’s legendary Chief Spymaster, bringing history and imagination together in one incredible outdoor playground. Kids can scramble across rope bridges, race down giant slides, tackle climbing walls, squeeze through hidden tunnels and explore the towering multi-level Hidden Towers. There are even spy-themed missions, code-breaking challenges and interactive play features designed to spark creativity and adventure.
Little explorers are just as well catered for too, with toddler-friendly play zones, sensory features and accessible pathways making it easy for everyone to join in the fun. When it’s time for a break, head to The Muddy Mole refreshment cabin right in the heart of the play area for family-friendly snacks, drinks and sweet treats before diving back into the action.
From peaceful garden strolls and imaginative outdoor adventures to world-class historic interiors, Burghley House delivers the perfect mix of history, beauty and family fun. Book online in advance and get ready for an unforgettable day out at one of the UK’s most iconic historic estates.
