There are over 1,000 acres of Parkland to explore, a farm full of animals, a marvellous Mansion, plus gorgeous gardens that include a maze!
The Mansion
Everyone will love exploring the historic Mansion, full of fascinating history. Did you know that this is the only other place (apart from the Royal Collection) in the country where you can see a rare Salviati portrait? The elegant Mansion is set in a 50-acre garden, in Tatton Park Gardens and was home to Lord Egerton and his family from the 18th century. Adorned with rich furnishings and neo-classical style remodelling. It also became one of the National Trust's finest libraries and over 14,000 items in the collection can now be viewed!
Throughout the year, there are a programme of events that showcases the history and culture of the neo-classical Mansion. A fun Young World Explorer quiz is available for a small additional charge, which will help the kids seek out the Treasures of Tatton! And don't forget to visit Tatton Old Hall, which is said to be haunted!
Tatton Park's Gardens
The glorious gardens are welcome to explore and navigate. Having been cultivated for over 300 years by the Egerton family, who have all had a part in evolving the award-winning gardens! It's also one of the most picturesque gardens in England - making it a family favourite! With many designer gardens, it's easy to understand why it's a beautiful and must-see attraction.
The Walled Garden has a collection of mushroom sheds, onion stores, barns, glasshouses and more that have all been restored to their former glory. They even grow a variety of fruit and vegetables too. From times long gone and the present! The world-renowned Japanese Garden holds aspects that have supposedly been brought from Japan like the Shinto Shrine and is laid out in the style of a traditional tea garden. With plants, stones and rocks carefully place to create a natural balance, as well as Maples and Acers that aren't normally found in true Japanese gardens. You can even attend guided tours of the Japanese Gardens!
The Pleasure Grounds are host to a number of activities and attractions. Like the fantastic maze which dates back to 1700 - impressive! It's also one of two mazes found in National Trust gardens. There's an intricate flower garden with small beds in Charlotte's Garden that was designed by Lewis Wyatt in 1814 and there are a number of topiaries with a Victorian garden design.
Not forgetting the Italian Garden with terracotta steps and box hedges, the Rose Garden, The Tower Garden and the Arboretum - to name a few more! With so many formal gardens, you and the family have so much to explore! Then there's the 1,000 acres of Parkland, which is s great for walking or biking, with a number of recommended routes to follow. You may also see herds of lovely fallow and red deer along the way, as well as a bird hide, and an adventure playground with over 30 rides! Take in the breathtaking views of the parkland as you engage in family fun.
Tatton Park's Glasshouses
The original glasshouses were built around the mid-1700s and were used to grow pineapples, figs, apricots, grapes, peaches and nectarines.
Nowadays it blooms in beautiful colours with an array of orchids! Did you know orchids were a sign of wealth and status? There's also the Pinery Vinery which is 120 feet long and divided into 3 sections!
The Farm
If you're looking for animal fun, then visit the breed farm, where you can share the excitement of new goat kids, calves, and chicks and how their feed is made for the animals!
With a 40-acre farm, there's so much to explore and you can meet farmworkers from the past and present! And there are many rare breed animals to discover too - prepare to go 'aww'.
It's also a great place to visit whatever the weather as many of the animals are indoors! There are plenty of animals including donkeys, cows, poultry, horses, sheep, and pigs. You can see the new Jersey cow, called Lou, being milked at 14:00 every day during the summer. There are plenty of activities available at the Farm, including a woodland play trail, a den building and an indoor play area with toy tractors.

For a meal made with locally sourced products and fresh fruit, veg and herbs, the Stables Restaurant is the place to go. With sandwiches prepared daily, like herb roasted chicken breast, cream cheese with dill and cucumber and hot food. You won't go hungry here.
