Offering more of a family feel than the oontz-oontz vibes of the Fulham Beach Club, Walthamstow-On-Sea is a great way to spend sunny days in the city.

Relax in private beach huts, slurp up frozen cocktails, eat fish and chips and play nostalgic beach games with your little ones on the golden sand. Leaf through the beach schedule to find out about Kids Play, Family Parties, Beach Vibes, and adults-only beach parties.

This is one of our favourite picks in our list of London’s pop-up beaches because it is super nostalgic and perfect for families.

Ruislip Lido

ruislip lido in the sun
Less of a pop-up beach and more of a permanent one, the Ruislip Lido is a 60-acre lake set on the edge of Ruislip Woods. It’s a great place to take the kids with its narrow gauge railway and sandy beaches. Find out more about the railway experience in our article Steam Train Railways in London.

Just make sure to keep all your beach activities on land and NOT in the lake water as there is no swimming rule. The water has unpredictable depths and is freezing cold, there could also be underwater objects and hazards so please do not enter the water.
