Thrillseekers listen up! An amazing new roller coaster is being built at Oakwood Theme Park. Oakwood in Tenby, Pembrokeshire, is the biggest theme park in Wales and attracts over 400,000 visitors per year.
The park offers rides and attractions for all ages and has a calendar of fun, seasonal events throughout the year.
Megafobia Ride Updated
The exciting new project will see Oakwood’s famous Megafobia wooden roller coaster transform into a brand new attraction. The award winning American roller coaster design and construction company The Gravity Group, are in charge of the $2 million refurbishment.
Megafobia originally launched at the well known Welsh theme park in 1996. The revamp to the popular Oakwood attraction will see changes in the tracks and even steeper drops.
Work on the ambitious new design for Megafobia has already begun onsite at Oakwood. The Gravity Group team recently arrived from America.
Exciting Project
Oakwood explained on their website “We recently welcomed a couple of Mega fans to see the works, and we’ll be continuing to share updates including photos and videos on our website and social media channels over the coming weeks and months.”
Roller coaster enthusiasts Roller Coaster Club of Great Britain were interested in the new attraction and said: “The fantastic work being carried out on Megafobia will ensure that it is not only as good as new, but even better than when it opened in 1996! The re-tracking work is using the latest on wooden coaster technology that will make this classic ride more exciting and thrilling than ever”!
