What Can I Expect From A Show at Bridge Theatre London?
For example, in the NEW show, Guys and Dolls, the set design stretches across the whole auditorium making you feel as if you’ve wandered onto the streets of New York City. And what’s more? To make your experience even more otherworldly, front-of-house staff are dressed as police officers selling pretzels and hats. The officers will also remain throughout the show to usher you to the stage as it rises. Yep, the stage moves up and down!
Although you would be standing for the whole show, the fact you get so close to the action on stage makes it all worth it! And at the end of the show, the pit area turns into a dance party which you can join in and dance to until the end of the night.
So are you thinking of booking tickets to the Guys and Dolls show now? Other shows in the past have also included unique and contemporary performances too using the ‘flexible space’ on offer at Bridge Theatre.
The Bridge focuses on the commissioning and production of new shows, as well as staging and re-imagining the occasional classic. The casts at Bridge Theatre have been led by bright stars like Maggie Smith, Ben Whishaw, Laura Linney, Ralph Fiennes (Voldermort!) and Gwendoline Christie, drawing audiences from overseas as well as local areas.
What Are The Upcoming Shows?
So, how does the theatre work, is it all standing?
‘Adaptable’ is a great way to describe this amazing theatre. You’ll get to experience different styles of performances that enrich the story you are being told. This creates an immersive theatre that thrusts you right into the action and heart of each play.
Traditional performances are always on offer too. It is the first wholly new theatre of scale to be added to London’s commercial theatre sector in 80 years!
What is the seating like?
You can find the complete seating plan here (if you are seeing the production of Guys and Dolls): https://seatplan.com/london/bridge-theatre/seating-plan/
How accessible is Bridge Theatre London?
Step-free access is available at London Bridge underground station for the Jubilee and Northern lines. It is a 10-minute walk from London Bridge station to the Bridge Theatre. Drop-offs by car can be made on Potters Fields, directly outside the theatre.
From the main entrance of the Bridge Theatre, there is level access to the foyer and Gallery 1. Wheelchair users can find wheelchair spaces in Gallery 1, but this can vary by production. For Guys and Dolls, wheelchair spaces are in the front row of the Stalls. The Stalls are accessed via a platform lift.
Are food and drinks available?
Want to know something cool? The theatre has a Guys and Dolls brand of lager called ‘Lady Luck’ which you buy during the performance.
In terms of food, you can enjoy classic theatre snacks like ice cream and nuts. Luckily, the Bridge Theatre is in an amazing location surrounded by an exciting range of restaurants. So make sure you plan a nice meal before or after the show.
