Looking for a family day out that has something for everyone and ticks all the boxes -come rain or shine? Stockeld Park in Yorkshire offers a huge list of activities from inflatable obstacle courses to ride on tractors and is the perfect family day out.
We recently visited with our children Ezra (4) and Etta (14 months). We have visited previously with Ezra when he was 18 months, for their Christmas event which was fantastic. This time our trip to Stockeld Park was during The Summer Adventure event. So, carry on reading to find out what we thought!
What is Stockeld Park?
Stockeld Park is a unique all-weather family attraction, with activities for all ages and interests. The Enchanted Forest, which is packed full of magical interactive activities to explore and five fantastic themed play areas.
Then, Playhive – one of Europe’s largest and most original indoor play areas. Stockeld Park offers a jam-packed, fun-filled day for the whole family come rain or shine! There really is nowhere else like it.
Where is Stockeld Park?
There is plenty of parking, we were pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to get parked up on a sunny Saturday in the Summer holidays.

How long will you spend at Stockeld Park?
We arrived at 11am, which was our booked slot, and left Stockeld Park around 4.15pm. However we could have stayed longer if our youngest wasn’t overtired and refusing to nap for fear of missing something!
There was so much to do at Stockeld Park, and the Playhive alone could be a day out in itself. The park closes at 6pm in the spring/summer season, with the last entry to activities at 5pm.
Why is Stockeld Park the perfect day out with the kids?
I don’t know where to start! The whole park is designed with kids in mind, but in a way that will keep adults happy too.
Magical Maze
We started our day tackling The Magical Maze, Ezra loved tracing the map with his finger thought it was a great idea to take a photo of the map so we could revisit it – thank goodness we did or I think we’d still be in there now.
Farmer Foster’s Barnyard
Once we escaped, we headed to Farmer Foster’s Barnyard where there were rides on tractors and a farmyard themed playground which was suitable for both children. Etta loved climbing through the tunnels and the swings. She is swing obsessed!
Outdoor Inflatables
The outdoor inflatables were next on our list – Ezra (and daddy) loved the giant slide and Etta loved the giant jumping pillow. I was really pleased the inflatables were included in the ticket price and Ezra made good use of having them at his disposal.
Enchanted Forest
The sunshine finally came out and we used this opportunity to explore the magical Enchanted Forest. There is so much to see in this part of the park and with five additional playgrounds, both children were really happy. We spent most of our day exploring the different areas of the Enchanted Forest, and paid £6 for a go on the Buccaneer boats which Ezra loved.
Playhive
We ended our day in the Playhive, although we could have spent a lot longer exploring the different zones. It’s a full day out in itself. It’s based around four interconnected worlds of space, air, jungle and sea and has high level walkways and giant spiralling
slides. There’s also a toddler zone which Etta enjoyed exploring.
Stockeld Park also offers live shows which are an additional charge on top of the ticket cost – although only £1.25pp.
Our highlights
- Watching Etta find her bouncing legs on the giant inflatable pillow.
- Whizzing down the zipline at the Tangle Tree Climb (it’s a speedy one!)
- The look on Ezra’s face when he heard the troll under the bridge
- Escaping the Magical Maze together.
- Spinning around on the Buccaneer Boats.
- Feeding the monkey bananas in the Playhive.
Things to know before you go
- They’re currently trialling a Rainy Day guarantee over summer. This means that if it rains on the day you’re visiting for a continuous period of at least two hours, you’ll be able to return on a different day to use the outdoor park
only. This is excellent for families no need to worry about the weather! When you book, you can either choose a time slot for the Playhive or pay an additional fee to have access to the Playhive anytime, all day. I would advise doing this so you can access it if the weather turns – we are in the UK after all! - Buggy’s, prams, food and drink can’t be taken into the Playhive. There is a buggy park provided and I would recommend taking a baby carrier for any non-walkers.
- The pedal go-carts can only be used for over 5’s (even with an adult).
Food and Drink
We ate in the Playhive Pizzeria and paid £26 for 1 x Caesar Salad, 1 x Jacket potato, 1 x childs sausage and mash, 1 x fruit shoot and 1 x Coke.
The food was delicious and the environment felt clean and spacious. The only downside for us was that it was located within the Playhive, but with no access to the Playhive play area. This resulted in a very grumpy four year old (oops!).
There is also the Woodland Cafe located at the entrance of the park which serves lighter bites, and a few adventure cabins dotted around the park where you can buy drinks, snacks and ice creams.
Final thoughts on Stockeld Park?
A winner! Both kids found plenty to do, we had a fantastic day with the children and it felt completely hassle free. It didn’t feel busy, queues were minimal and we’d definitely head back there again.
