Hyde Park Winter Wonderland: A Family Review!

Review by Laura Brown – @bigadventureswithlittleones

Winter Wonderland in London is truly a festive gem, transforming Hyde Park into a winter paradise every year. This Christmas, my family and I visited this incredible event, and it certainly lived up to the hype.

From ice skating and delicious food to thrilling rides and a ride on the Disney Big Wheel, Winter Wonderland offered something for everyone — especially for our two little ones, who are under five.

As soon as we arrived, the atmosphere was electric, with Christmas lights twinkling, music filling the air, and the scent of mulled wine, bratwursts and hot chocolate wafting around.

It felt like stepping into a winter wonderland (no pun intended!), and we couldn’t wait to explore.

Our Day At Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Ice Skating: A Winter Tradition

First on our agenda was the iconic ice skating rink, which, with its magical setting under the twinkling lights, looked like something straight out of a Christmas card. The rink offered enough room for both beginners and more experienced skaters. For my family, it was a great way to embrace the holiday spirit. The kids were thrilled, holding onto the penguins while we skated along. Though we were all beginners, the rink’s relaxed atmosphere made it fun for everyone, and we enjoyed gliding around, surrounded by beautiful festive décor.

Delicious Food and Festive Treats

After working up an appetite on the ice, we indulged in some of the amazing food offerings Winter Wonderland has to offer. There’s no shortage of delicious options with various cuisines for everyone’s desired meal of choice — from hearty festive dishes to sweet treats like churros, candy floss, and hot chocolate. The food stalls were bustling, and we had a hard time deciding between everything on offer. In the end, we opted for a delicious pie, mash & gravy, which was perfect for refuelling after our ice skating adventure.

The Disney Big Wheel: A Bird’s Eye View of Winter Wonderland

One of the highlights of our visit was the Disney Big Wheel, which gave us a fantastic bird’s eye view of the whole event. As we ascended, the view of Hyde Park and the twinkling lights below was breathtaking. The kids loved spotting different attractions from above, and the gentle movement of the wheel was just perfect for them. It was a relaxing break that offered us the opportunity to take in the whole festive atmosphere.

Rides and Santa Land Bands for Little Ones

For our little ones, the best part of the visit was the unlimited Santa Land bands, which allowed them to go on as many rides as they wanted. The rides in Santa Land are specially designed for younger children, and my kids had an absolute blast. From mini carousels to gentle rollercoasters, there was so much to keep them entertained. The unlimited bands were a brilliant addition, meaning we didn’t have to worry about ticket queues or spending extra for each ride. The kids were able to go on their favourite attractions over and over again, which was a real win for us.

A Family Experience to Remember

One of the things that stood out about Winter Wonderland was how family-friendly it was. Despite the large crowds, everything was well-organised and easy to navigate. There were plenty of facilities, including child-friendly areas, accessible toilets, and even places to sit and relax when the little ones needed a break. The event felt welcoming, with something for every age group to enjoy.

Overall, our trip to Winter Wonderland was filled with laughter, excitement, and plenty of holiday cheer. It offered the perfect balance of festive activities, delicious food, and memorable experiences, making it an ideal outing for families. Whether you’re skating, enjoying the rides, or simply soaking in the festive atmosphere, Winter Wonderland is a magical destination that truly captures the spirit of Christmas.
