About Alexandra Park Hastings

Alexandra Park, located in Hastings, East Sussex, is a beautiful and historic park that has been a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike for over 140 years. With its lush green spaces, picturesque gardens, and stunning views of the town and seafront, it offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Whether you're looking to take a leisurely stroll, have a picnic with friends or family, or simply relax and enjoy the scenery, this park has something for everyone.

Things to do for families

Wildlife

Alexandra Park is well known for its diverse and abundant wildlife, especially at the Northern end, known as 'Old Roar Gill' which is now a Local Nature Reserve and well worth visiting with binoculars! However Kingfishers and Grey Wagtails can be seen any time of the year all over the park and not just in the reserve, especially at the Bucks-hole Reservoir and Harmers Pond areas. It's a great spot for twitchers of all orders because of the pleasing proximity to the coast, which means many rare migrant birds also regularly visit the park, including Night Heron and Little Bittern, plus the delightfully monikered Honey Buzzard and Ferruginous Duck!

Beautiful Landscapes and Gardens

Alexandra Park is renowned for its meticulously maintained gardens and scenic landscapes. Visitors can enjoy a stroll through vibrant flower beds, lush lawns, and well-kept trees. The park's design incorporates a mix of formal and informal garden styles, providing a picturesque setting for relaxation, photography, and nature appreciation.

Family-Friendly Amenities

The park is equipped with numerous amenities that cater to families and visitors of all ages. There are playgrounds for children, picnic areas with tables and benches, and plenty of open spaces for recreational activities. The park also features a boating lake, which adds an element of fun and adventure for both kids and adults. Additionally, the café within the park offers refreshments and snacks, making it easy to spend a whole day there.

Wildlife and Bird Watching

Alexandra Park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts and bird watchers. The park's diverse habitats, including wooded areas and water features, attract a wide range of bird species and other wildlife. Visitors can enjoy spotting different birds throughout the year, as well as observing ducks and other waterfowl around the lake.
