Shakespeare’s Schoolroom and Guildhall is an interactive way to learn all about the most famous playwright in the world! Experience the place where ‘the Bard’ began his journey.
See the schoolroom where Shakespeare studied between the ages of 7-14. Here kids can play the role by taking part in a Tudor lesson. Back in the day, it would have been tough, but this is just make believe so no cane allowed! Coming here truly shows children that they can reach for the stars. Shakespeare began life as a typical school kid, just like them! Who knows what they could become?
Explore the Guildhall which was built way back in 1420. After hundreds of years it’s still a hub for storytelling and, given it was attached to the schoolhouse, is where Shakespeare would have seen his very first plays! The hall was open to the public and hosted many groups of travelling players and touring shows. No doubt children will be dazzled when they realise this was the closest Tudor kids ever got to watching telly!
