Open the door to Glasgow'sGlasgow's rich past at the Riverside Museum, home to over 3,000 objects from the city's world-famous collections that tell the story of Glasgow'sGlasgow's history. From its days as a maritime ''powerhouse'' to the daily lives of those who lived there in the early-mid twentieth century. The objects on display are wide and varied – public transport is covered with cars, bicycles, trams and even steam locomotives. The exhibition space also holds an extensive collection of paintings, prams, skateboards, stormtroopers, and everything in between!
One of the biggest highlights is the old Glasgow street. You can step back in time and wander through a cobbled Victorian-era road lined with shops, a subway station, and even an old-school horse-drawn carriage. Walk the Glasgow street scene and tour the shops where you can look at fashion and merchandise. It's like stepping into a time machine, and kids will love imagining what life was like in the past!
There are 150 interactive displays to help you discover what life is really like. The screens, films, and images will help add another dimension to your wander down memory lane. The kids will enjoy the Global Treasure Hunt, which is available to download and is usable with the museum's free Wi-Fi, or they can seek out Riverside's Hidden Stories!
There's even a car wall where you see 31 well-preserved vehicles like a Rolls-Royce Phantom II!
