From being a princess to being a wizard for the day, we’ve rounded up some of the best film locations in the UK for your next big family day out.

  1. Alnwick Castle, Northumberland

    There are so many iconic places you can visit related to the Harry Potter films, but Alnwick Castle is definitely one of the best. Once you’ve explored the medieval castle, hold on tight and get ready to hop on a broomstick for a quick flying lesson!

  2. Cliveden House and Gardens, Berkshire

    Fancy being a princess for the day? Head to Cliveden House in Berkshire, one of the locations for the classic 2015 fairy tale film Cinderella! With a variety of gardens and a woodland to explore too, plus don’t miss running wild in the epic Cliveden Maze too!

  3. Paddington Station, London, Paddington

    We couldn’t do a list of the best film locations in the UK for families without giving a mention to Paddington Station! You’ll find the iconic Paddington Bear statue in the train station itself, and while you’re in the capital, why not go on a Paddington Bear tour too?

  4. Puzzlewood, Gloucestershire,

    When you take a visit to Puzzlewood, it will definitely feel familiar to you! The magical woods have been iconic locations in many big family favourites, including Merlin, Doctor Who, Wizards vs Aliens, and the parents will probably recognise it from Star Wars scenes too!

  5. Bodnant Garden, Conwy

    Looking for a magical day out? Head over to Bodnant Garden, an incredible house and gardens. Used for some of the filming in The Secret Gardens, you’ll definitely feel like you’ve stumbled into something enchanted when you’re roaming through the stunning gardens here!

  6. Keighley, West Yorkshire, and Bluebell Railway, Sussex

    Fancy a classic train ride? Bluebell Railway and Keighley Worth Valley Railway will take you back in time to the classic 1970’s film The Railway Children where you’ll get to visit the memorable train stations and go for a ride on the trains too!

  7. Antony House, Cornwall

    If you’re looking to find Wonderland, head over to Antony House, one of the locations for the classic Alice in Wonderland film! Along with the grand house, you’ll also be able to head off and try to spot some of the wonderland-themed statues dotted around the gardens too.

  8. Stowe, Buckinghamshire

    Head over to the impressive Stowe and take a trip into Neverland! Stowe was one of the locations for the 2015 adaptation of the classic tale of Peter Pan, Pan. You’ll be able to marvel at the incredible house and roam wild in the gardens and parkland.

  9. Benthall Hall, Shropshire

    If you’ve seen Enola Holmes, Benthall Hall in Shropshire will definitely be on your list for places to visit. You’ll instantly recognise the front of the grand house from the film, plus there’s plenty of gardens and outdoor space to explore on your visit.

  10. Isle of Skye, Scotland

    Hands up if your huge Roal Dahl fans! Most fans of the famous books will have seen some of the film adaptations, including The BFG. A lot of the filming for the film took place in Scotland at the Isle of Skye, where you’ll be able to recognise a lot of the iconic sights.
