The Lost Kingdom Walking Trail Roars into the UK This Summer

two kids on a dinosaur

If your kids are dinosaur mad, The Lost Kingdom walking trail at Glasgow’s Cuningar Loop was one of the most exciting family days out Scotland has seen in years. If the tour returns in 2026, it absolutely deserves a spot on your calendar!

TL;DR

The Lost Kingdom is a ticketed outdoor walking trail featuring over 50 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs. Glasgow was the first stop on the 2025 four-city UK tour, running at Cuningar Loop, Rutherglen from 28th June to 13th July 2025. Tickets were from £12.50 for children and £14.50 for adults. Extras included expert-led tours, a fossil excavation pit, VR experience pods, and a merch shop. No 2026 dates announced yet – check thelostkingdom.uk for news.

We are talking about more than 50 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs set along a woodland trail on the banks of the River Clyde, complete with roaring sound effects, expert-guided tours, and hands-on activities for little explorers. The 2025 run sold out fast – if a 2026 tour is announced, book early!

The Lost Kingdom Glasgow: What to Expect

Imagine strolling through a beautiful riverside woodland and suddenly coming face-to-face with a life-sized T-Rex. That is exactly the kind of moment The Lost Kingdom delivers!

The trail features over 50 incredible animatronic dinosaurs, all set within the natural landscape of Cuningar Loop. The combination of out-of-this-world sound effects and jaw-dropping replica dinosaurs makes this far more than just a walk in the park. Every twist in the trail brings a new prehistoric giant into view!

The Dinosaurs You Will Meet

From fan favourites to lesser-known species, the line-up is seriously impressive:

  • T-Rex – the king of the trail, and guaranteed to get a reaction!
  • Diplodocus and Brontosaurus – towering long-necks that kids absolutely love
  • Velociraptor – fast, fierce, and brilliantly realistic
  • Sauropoda – a gentle giant that makes for an amazing photo moment
  • And many more prehistoric creatures besides!

Beyond the Trail

The experience does not stop at the dinosaurs. There is a packed programme of extras to keep the whole family busy:

  • Expert-led palaeontology tours – guided walks that dig into dinosaur habitats, behaviours, and the mysteries of their extinction
  • Fossil excavation pit – let the kids channel their inner archaeologist!
  • VR experience pods – step even deeper into the prehistoric world
  • Merchandise shop – because every dino fan needs a souvenir

Bear with us here! The educational side of The Lost Kingdom is genuinely brilliant. It is the kind of experience where kids come home buzzing with facts rather than just memories.

The trail itself takes around two to three hours to complete at a relaxed pace, making it a proper half-day out. The woodland setting at Cuningar Loop added a real sense of atmosphere too. Spotting a Velociraptor through the trees hits differently than seeing one in a museum!

A few things worth knowing before you go:

  • Book online – online tickets are cheaper than on the door (£14.50 vs £16.00 for adults), and popular time slots sell out fast
