Wordsworth Grasmere
Grasmere, CumbriaAbout Wordsworth Grasmere
Dove Cottage and The Wordsworth Museum will take you back to the era when Wordsworth was writing his poetry. Little has changed in the cottage and its pretty cottage garden since the Wordsworths lived there and the guided tours will take you through the rooms and some of Wordsworth's work.
Plus every week during the school holidays they offer Wild Walks on Wednesdays! Come and explore the area around Dove Cottage with their fun educational team and learn about the wild landscape of the Lake District, see what birds and animals you can spot and collect plant specimens for study! Then on Thursday mornings during school holidays you can join in their new early years sessions, Rucksack of Rhymes for children age under 5 years.
In the Museum, there is plenty more to see and do for fans of both poetry and of fun in general. You will discover the greatest collection of the Wordsworths' letters, journals and poems in the world. The kids can pick up a quiz to help them explore. Families can journey through the past with an Explorer Suitcase and you can get stuck in to hands-on learning in the Family Activity Room too and do things like write with quill and ink or make a Plasticine figurine!
