Ullswater Steamers offer the perfect opportunity to explore the area. Referred to as the 'Dark Lake' in Arthurian legend, it is believed monsters used to live beneath the dark waters of Ullswater! Set sail with the family on a voyage of discovery through the valley that holds the secrets of many amazing achievements.
This valley holds a host of wildlife hidden amongst the ancient woodlands and fells. You even see England's third highest mountain, Helvellyn, looming on the southern shore! If you are lucky, you may get the chance to spot some of the rarer species that can be found there, such as red deer, red squirrels and goosanders.
You can keep up to date with information about activities for your little adventurers by signing up for the Kids' Club newsletter. It is also worth checking online before your visit, as there are a number of free activities you can download to keep the kids amused while you are there.
Learn about Sammy the squirrel and his friends, the Tail Trail Gang, find activities to complete, and learn about events and competitions that are held throughout the year.
You may get the chance to meet Sammy he is often out and about in the school holidays. Why not join them for some of their special event days, where you can become a pirate, meet a monster from the deep at Halloween or shake hands with Sammy the Red Nosed Squirrel at Christmas!
