Things To Do
Get ready to ride the rails on an awe-inspiring heritage steam train ride! This remarkable British Steam Locomotive hauls traditional 1950s carriages through the scenic Leven Valley countryside. Enjoy a 50-minute return journey that takes you from Haverthwaite station to Lakeside station (near Lake Windermere) and back! As you gaze out of the window, soak in the countryside scenery and check out the classic British Steam locomotives on the heritage track. Why not stop off at Lakeside station and join the Windermere Lake cruise too?
Station Tea Room
Feeling peckish after the train ride? Why not stop by the Station Tea Room for a cuppa and fresh homemade fruit scone? (Did we mention the scones are baked daily?) The tea room offers a range of locally sourced food and drinks for breakfast and lunch.

The station at Haverthwaite is fully accessible! There is ramp access to the gift shop and tea rooms plus a wheelchair lift to help board the train. You can also find spacious disabled toilets at Haverthwaite station and disabled parking at both Haverthwaite and Lakeside stations.

Yes! The station welcomes dogs and they can ride the train for free.
