Ambleside Climbing Wall
Ambleside, CumbriaAbout Ambleside Climbing Wall
Ambleside Climbing Wall is the perfect family option. With our experienced and fully qualified instructors we will take you through the basics of climbing and bouldering whilst guaranteeing that the kids get loads of goes on the walls and the parents can maybe even learn a few skills on the way.
No experience is needed for our Bouldering Room (suitable for 4 year olds and above), or Main Wall Climbing Lessons (suitable for 6 year olds and above).
Competent belayers can make use of our main wall without a lesson, with both top rope and lead routes available. Private coaching is also available for novice and experienced climbers, whether you're wanting a better understanding of the basic skills, or ready to take the next step in your learning to lead climb journey. Our friendly staff are here to help you with all the skills necessary! We have a range of lessons available, from one-off intensive sessions, to a custom schedule of lessons to improve skills over time, whether a week, a month, or year.
We hire out harnesses and climbing shoes (included in any lesson cost). We do not hire lead ropes. Any safe, well-looked after own gear is welcome.
For local kids, we run Kids Clubs during term-time for all levels! Kids aged 3 and up can join our NICAS Wild Climbers lesssons, focused on fun, games, and getting familiar with the wall. Kids aged 7 and up can join our NICAS lessons, from Level 1 suitable for complete beginners, to Level 4 for confident young climbers learning to lead climb and get into the world of climbing competitions.
There's more for local adults and parents too! Parents are welcome to join our regular climbing clubs, or we have weekly adult socials for learning and getting to know fellow climbers. Our student night runs on Thursdays, with students from the University of Cumbria, but students from far and wide are also welcome to come along!
We have memberships available for regular climbers that provide discounted entry, free gear hire (wall use only), discounts on Ambleside Adventure Guided Activities (including outdoor climbing across stunning Lake District crags) and discounts in the Ambleside Climbing Wall shop, the Expedition Shop and Cafe Altitude!
Climbing & Bouldering in the heart of the Lake District!
Located a couple of minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside, Ambleside Climbing Wall offers the perfect activity for an energy burner, rainy day alternative or just fun new activity.
Fantastic fun for all!
All experience levels welcome!
