Attraction Information

Discover three epic high ropes courses at Go Ape Grizedale with something for all the family. Tiny tots (min 1m tall) can take on Treetop Adventure and slightly older explorers (over 1.2m) can try their hand at Treetop Adventure Plus! So, whether you're looking for an adventure for adults or family fun, you'll find it all here with these unrivalled experiences!

From the Stepping-Stone to the Tank Trap and the Shuffle, there are plenty of fun and intricate crossings for them to conquer. Treetop Challenge also includes wobbly rope bridges, free-swinging crossings, breath-taking – literally – Tarzan Swings and 6 ape-tastic zip wires – the longest is more than 320m long! When you’re steady on the ground, take things up a gear and explore the stunning Grizedale forest with a Forest Segway Experience, zooming around on the ground is the best way to see everything! Or explore the forest floor on the cycling routes for the perfect two-wheeled adventure or the many walking routes around. Be ready to spot some beautiful views and magnificent scenery!

More of a zip enthusiast? True daredevils will think the Zip Trekking is the ultimate adventure, being the longest dual zipline course in the UK with over 3km worth of zip lines over eight site locations. Take in the stunning Lake District views as you tour to the top of the forest canopy, before zipping your way down through the valley. You’ll feel like you can touch both the sky and the treetops of the ancient Douglas Firs at this stunning location, as you speed down the zipline with your friends.

The fun doesn’t have to end when your feet touch the ground! Grab a well-deserved bite at the Grizedale café or find a picturesque Lake District spot for a picnic – there are plenty of thrilling locations to choose from! So, if you're looking for an epic experience, forest adventures and brilliant views as you take on the incredible zip wire flights, then Go Ape Grizedale is the place to be.

Due to the rural nature of our locations, postcodes are not always accurate when using Sat-Nav directions. Please always cross reference with a map. Your sat nav will estimate a time of arrival based on the speed limit of the roads you are travelling. It is not possible to travel at the maximum speed on the rural roads around Grizedale so please allow an extra half an hour to take account of this. In addition, the directions provided by standard mapping websites can be very confusing, particularly when approaching Grizedale from the South. We strongly recommend following the directions below. Please do not use the Ferry across Windermere, it will delay your journey, you might miss your session and this will result in the possibility of not being able to do your activity. Waiting times for the ferry are often in excess of 45 minutes. Feel free to use it on your return journey when you have more time. Recommended route is from the south via the A590 and Newby Bridge. Follow signs to Hawkshead, past the Swan Hotel at Newby Bridge and through Lakeside, up the west side of Windermere. As you come to Hawkshead (approximately 8 miles, 20 minutes, from the A590 turn) take the small left turn signed to Grizedale next to two white cottages. If you go past a repair garage and a primary school, you have missed the turn. Continue for three miles up over the hill and down the other side and park in Kennels car park on the right, or Hall Car Park on the left another half mile further on. From the North get to Ambleside and follow the signs to Hawkshead and then to Grizedale, taking the small right hand turn 200yrds past the school. Continue for three miles up over the hill and down the other side and park in Kennels car park. From Kennels Car Park, follow the large finger board signs to Go Ape. This will take you alongside the river and underneath the course itself. It will take approximately 5-7 minutes. From Hall Car Park, walk uphill following signs for the Visitor Centre. Cross the road and enter the Courtyard. From there, we are opposite the Play Park. Approximately 5 minute walk.
