Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital Visitor Centre
Aylesbury, BuckinghamshireAbout Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital Visitor Centre
Tiggywinkles is a truly special place - a world leading wildlife hospital dedicated to the rescue and rehabiliation of all British wildlife. We take in and treat over 13,000 sick, injured and orphaned animals every year with the aim of getting them back out into the wild after rehabiliation. Any animal that is unable to be released will stay at the hospital where it can live out its life in near natural surroundings while still benefiting from ongoing monitoring and care.
The Visitor Centre is a place where you can meet some of our rescued residents in our tranquil sanctuary, learn about the work carried out at the wildlife hospital and find out more about the many species we care for. There is a behind-the-scenes viewing window into the hospital where you can see our life-saving wildlife nurses in action. The animals you will see vary throughout the seasons. From orphaned baby hedgehogs, foxes and badgers being fed every few hours, to tiny baby birds being hand-fed every 20 minutes! In our unique hedgehog memorabilia museum, you can explore everything hedgehog! From myths, culture, history, literature and collectibles. Hedghogs have fascinated people and captured our imaginations for centuries.
We have a large playground and picnic area - perfect for a lunchtime break. Kids can enjoy arts and crafts in our activity centre and we have a refreshments kiosk serving a selection of ice creams, hot and cold drinks and snacks. Including vegan options.
During school holidays we have expert talks throughout the day where you can learn more about the wild animals we support and have a chance to meet some of our rescued animals up close. You can visit our hedgehogs, foxes, badgers, deer and many more. You're sure to fall in love with Deacon, our resident polecat, who is a curious and cheeky character!
Our wildlife pond is home to our rescued birds, as well as some passing visitors, where you can see herons, gulls and ducks enjoying a quiet life at the water's edge.
With a Gift Shop packed full of pocket-money souvenirs, books and collectables, there's something for everyone.
