Attraction Information
The Bernwood Butterfly Trail comprises extensive and delightfully scenic forest paths which weave through mixed coniferous and broadleaf woodland. Fascinating vegetation management has cultivated the favourite habitats of butterflies so this is a wonderfully reliable place to go looking for them.
If you've got older kids or toddler carriers then follow the yellow waymarked path on a charming walk around the forest and discover the stunning variety of habitats to be found and which mini beasts live there. The full walk is 2 miles long, and circular.
Butterflies to watch out for include the White Admiral, Purple Emperor, Skippers, Marbled White and rare Black Hairstreak! Why not print a few pictures off at home and have a little family competition!?
