Attraction Information
Wells Cathedral is a living community of prayer and hospitality that also welcomes visitors of all ages and denominations to come and explore some fantastic architecture in a quiet and fascinating environment. Kids will enjoy the mysterious and awesome features and rarely have to be asked to lower their tone, whispers coming naturally here!
Wells Cathedral welcomes visitors every day of the year and it is really only by coming in person that you can properly experience this wonderful and holy place.
Visitors are very welcome to attend the regular daily services, which are open to all and free of charge, take a guided tour, visit with a group or simply come and explore in your own time. It's great as an extra curricular resource for academic related projects but it's also a pleasing trip to the artistically or spiritually minded too, so it's hard to fail with this one!
Free tours of the Cathedral are available all year round except on Sundays. From April to October these normally take place hourly 10am to 3pm, unless there is a special service or event taking place in the Cathedral. From November to March tours take place at 11:00; 12:00 and 14:00. Please ask for details at the Information Desk and their volunteers will direct you to the starting point. These are led by excellent volunteer guides and last approximately 1 hour, with a chance to ask questions for the kids.
