Welcome to Basecamp! Nestled in the stunning Mendip Hills, Somerset- and not far from Bristol, Bat and Weston Super Mare, our campsite offers the perfect blend of adventure and comfort. Winner of the 2023 Tourism Awards for Campsite, Basecamp provides a unique environment where you can disconnect from technology and enjoy the simplicity of nature with some modern luxuries.
We're suitable for tents and campervans and have no pitches- that means you have the freedom to choose your own spot. Whether you're looking to wake up with the sun or find a secluded corner under ancient trees, you make the rules here! We are a dog-friendly campsite, so your four-legged friends can join in on the fun, and we encourage you to light up a fire pit—perfect for those family bonding moments over marshmallows and hot chocolate (which you can buy from our handy camp shop!)
It's not just about relaxation. Basecamp is an adventure campsite with a packed schedule of both free and paid activities, there’s always something to do. From adrenaline-pumping adventures like rock climbing, tobogganing and kayaking to more relaxed options like frisbee golf, orienteering and circus skills, we cater to all ages and interests. Ages 6 to 16 are best suited to our range of activities but there's always something to do for under 6s as well. Our fully qualified instructors and friendly team will ensure everyone has fun safely and learns new skills along the way.
On the luxury front, we haven't held back. Stay in comfort with our pre-set Glamphouse tents, book a Bell Tent or a Lodge room. Enjoy the convenience of onsite hot showers, family-friendly changing rooms, and flushing toilets. Our Pavilion serves up delicious meals and snacks throughout the day—from breakfast rolls to ice cream and pizzas, paired perfectly with local beers and freshly brewed coffee from our barista machine.
Live music takes place every weekend and is part of our programme of free entertainment which includes circus skill workshops, climbing tower taster, meet the Yeti events and nature craft sessions.
Basecamp is more than just a place to stay—it's a community, a getaway, and an adventure rolled into one. It’s the perfect spot for those looking to escape the digital overload and engage in genuine outdoor fun. Come experience camping the Basecamp way, where freedom meets comfort and every day is an adventure waiting to happen.
Camping with Adventure and Endless Fun
Basecamp is the family campsite that’s all about diving into fun! Whether you're up for mastering archery or want to paddle a canoe, throw a frisbee or scale a cliff, we have an activity for you. From dawn till dusk, our activity programme is filled with options to keep everyone engaged and ecstatic. This is your ultimate spot for an activity holiday where you can choose a new adventure every single day. In addition, our programme of free entertainment includes live music, circus skills and nature craft workshops.
Flexible, family-friendly and off-grid
Imagine a campsite where you’re the boss... At Basecamp, you get just that. Our off-grid nature means there's no electricty and you have the flexibility to pitch wherever you fancy. There’s no set checkout time, so take the day at your pace. And yes, dogs are welcome too! Light up a fire pit, roast some marshmallows, and soak in the starlit skies. Here, it’s all about making your stay how you want it.
Basics with luxurious options
You can have a slice of luxury while camping! At Basecamp, we mix the rustic feel of camping with the comforts you love. Choose from a variety of accommodation options like our ready-to-book Glamphouse tents, Nomadic Bell Tents and Lodge rooms- or bring your own setup. Wake up to barista-quality coffee, enjoy hot showers, flushing toilets and make use of family-friendly amenities like family changing rooms. Plus, our onsite bar means you can unwind with a drink and pizza after a day full of adventures. It’s the perfect blend for those who love the outdoors and creature comforts.
