Wookey Hole Caves is one of the UK’s largest show cave systems, and it is deep below the Mendip Hills. It’s home to the Witch of Wookey Hole and offers a magical and historical day out for explorers of all ages.

Things To Do
When you visit Wookey Hole, you’ll enjoy an experience that is millions of years in the making. There is plenty to do inside and out, from vintage penny arcades to museums, adventure golf, and soft play, to name but a few of the attractions. Not forgetting the breathtakingly beautiful caves, for which Wookey Hole is renowned.
There is always a great film to watch in the 4D cinema, which changes regularly throughout the year. Make sure you check out the website to see what will be on when you visit!
Wookey Hole Circus
The fantastic Wookey Hole Circus creates and performs 3 original shows per year, these are in the theatre at weekends and during school holidays. Prepare to be dazzled by these super talented performers.
Food & Drink
Our on-site restaurant serves a selection of homemade dishes, snacks, sandwiches and drinks. Our large restaurant is open from 10.00 am daily and serves hot food from 12 noon.
The Ice Cream Parlour offers over 25 flavours of ice cream (including vegan and gluten free options), along with snacks and drinks. Open daily during school holidays.
Wild Wookey
For the more adventurous and adrenaline seekers! Wild Wookey is a multi-award-winning, challenging caving experience designed for people who have an active and healthy lifestyle and who love action, confined spaces, heights, climbing, crawling and more!
Please note Wild Wooley must be booked as a separate attraction

Wookey Hole is jam packed with family fun and adventure, so why not stay in one of Wookey Hole’s convenient and comfortable options? All three accommodations options offers are close to the beaches at Weston-Super-Mare and Brean, great walking routes over the Mendip Hills and only 20 miles from Bath and Bristol, making Wookey Hole an ideal base to explore the area.
The Wookey Hole Hotel: Perfect for family holidays and short breaks with free parking. We’re perfectly placed for exploring Somerset.
Mendip View Hot Tub Lodges: Situated on the edge of the Mendip Hills and cute Wookey Hole village and on a delightful setting within the grounds of Wookey Hole Caves. Head out into a landscape steeped in legend and studded with historic, scenic and cultural gems, then relax with friends and family to enjoy the peace of the Somerset countryside.
Bucklegrove Holiday Park: Includes comfy lodges with hot tubs, seasonal holiday homes, wood cabins, touring and camping pitches. Park facilities include a heated, indoor swimming pool and toddler pool, games room, outdoor play area and The Lodge – Bar, Grill & Restaurant. There is regular evening entertainment and activities for the kids.

- Please wear sensible shoes as the floor in the caves can be uneven and wet in places.
- Buggies cannot be taken through the caves.
- Unfortunately, we cannot currently allow dogs onsite apart from Guide Dogs.
- The caves are not wheelchair accessible. There is a 45-minute virtual tour available in the Mill.

Peak season hours are in place during Somerset School Holidays and at weekends. Please check our special events page for what’s on when you are planning to visit. Off peak hours are in place Monday-Friday outside of school holidays and closure dates (detailed below).

We operate off-peak hours Monday to Friday from February to October (outside of school holidays -see peak hours above).

Wookey Hole Closure Dates
We are closed Monday – Friday from 4 November 2024 up to the start of February half term 2025. During December we are open everyday during the school holidays for Winter Wonderland. Please note we follow the Somerset School Holiday timetable.
We are closed for Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
