Attraction Information
The Trimontium Heritage Centre is a firmly educational stop but one that's fairly fascinating for all ages and will lead to some interesting conversations and home activities afterwards!
The main consists of a series of delightfully illustrated panels and modern artefact display cases; a significant collection of impressive aerial photographs; a selection of locally relevant artists' drawings; intricate models and intriguing maps!
You can also have a go on the Newstead charger (free to ride!); explore an authentic blacksmith's workshop; take a peek at a Roman kitchen and a nose into the pottery; marvel at the convincing replica armour; and there's also now a video room showing a Roman Frontiers video of Hadrian's and Antonine Walls.
A variety of guided walks are on offer so there are loads of ways to get the most from the experience whichever angle interests you most. The centre is a great place to get advice on which activities will suit your group and check the events schedules.
