Attraction Information
Textile Towerhouse is hidden within Drumlanrig's Tower: a beautifully restored building which uses period rooms, figures and audiovisuals displays to tell the excitingly turbulent history of the town and the tower! With a regular and considerate programme of changing exhibitions and immersive children's schoolroom set up, this can be a terrific resource for families backing up the school work with some extra curricular learning.
Older kids can guess at the roles of the mysterious objects (you'll never guess which one was used to stretch pants!) and learn about vintage and contemporary fashions in a multitude of ways. Younger kids can gawk at the fancy costumes and enjoy the well stocked dressing up box, as well as some complimentary craft and colouring activities.
They also host regular Get Creative workshops throughout the year with materials and supervision provided, where you and the kids can have a crack at things like Lucet knitting, intarsia, felt-making and rag rugs!
