Bowhill Stables

Bowhill Stables offer a variety of well mannered mounts between 10hh and 17hh for all age and ability lessons and other equestrian adventures, all within a stone's throw of Selkirk, Galashiels, Melrose and Hawick. This handsome estate covers more than 46,000 acres of Scottish Borders and provides some of the finest riding country and superb scenery in Britain. The stables sit within the old walled gardens of Bowhill House and Country Estate so are richly equipped with 20 stables, a full size floodlit outdoor arena and plenty of good sheltered grazing.

For folks who've passed their assessment and are confident to roam further afield with a bit of friendly leadership, scenic hacks and trekking are available through the forest and moorland, all mainly off road but where you do cross the path of motorised civilisation it tends to still be very minimal. Lessons can not be taken on trekking horses but there are other suitable mounts provided for tuition.

There is a great adventure playground next to the stable yard too, which can be used to help calm them down after the thrills of horse riding before trying to shoehorn them into the car, or to keep a non horsey type busy and happy while your other child attends a lesson.
