Go Ape Dalkeith
Dalkeith, Edinburgh and LothianAbout Go Ape Dalkeith
Calling all apes! Did you know that Dalkeith Country Park is the first Scottish Go Ape location to offer Treetop Adventures to those under 10’s? Now you do, and it's time to check it out!
Being the perfect addition to the existing Go Ape Scottish duo of sites, Dalkeith offers three award-winning high-ropes experiences to thrill-seekers from little monkeys to older explorers!
So, no matter your age, you can go bananas!
Returning this autumn - Sundown Adventures!
Back by popular demand. Experience tree top thrills in a whole new light across 25 locations for a limited time between 17th October and 9th November. Go Ape Sundown Adventures offer a new level of forest fun in the dark. Become a creature of the night as you climb through the canopy on a high ropes course lit with colourful lights. Test your skills on tree top crossings and experience the thrill of a zip wire ride into the darkness. It's a unique opportunity to enjoy the forest's beauty and experience the adrenaline rush of adventure after dark. The experience takes one to two hours, and the Go Ape team are around to help throughout. It starts with a safety briefing and harness fitting. For ages 6 and up (minimum height 1.2 metres) this is an adventure that will delight kids and adults alike.
Fun Activities for Thrill Seekers
Situated within 1,000 acres of stunning historical estate and parkland, Dalkeith Country Park is the ideal family day out. Whether you're looking for thrills or prefer to stay on the ground - Go Ape is the adventure to embark on!
First things first, head over for loops of loopy fun at Treetop Adventure! The first rung on the Go Ape ladder for little ones over 1m just getting their tree legs. Can they balance along the half-trapeze? How high will they leap along the fairy bridge?
For those looking to climb up higher and take the next leap, Treetop Adventure Plus is for any thrill seekers over 6 years old and 1.2m looking for that bit MORE. More height, even more daring crossings and an epic solo zip-wire across the river. Zoom down in style and speed. It's time to get ready for a Treetop Challenge like no other!
Unlike other Scottish locations, Dalkeith uses a continuous belay safety system, so anyone over 1.4m can take part. The course is specifically designed so you can tailor your thrill level with an option of routes to take, all including breathtaking zips across the River Esk.
After you’ve got your Go Ape certificate and sticker check out the forest around you. With waymarked walking trails, cycling paths, a Palace and a campsite, there’s something for everyone. There are great adventure trails for the kids to follow too. Families can explore every edge of the forest from its wobbly bridges in the tree canopy to its picturesque ponds down below! Not forgetting Fort Douglas, their adventure playground and explore some of Dalkeith's historic buildings!
Brand New Activity Alert - You've heard about their awesome Forest Shelter, right? It's the perfect place to hold ape-tastic kids' birthday parties and throw epic do's, with games and party food!
BUT there's also another exciting activity here... Stumped! A mind-bending adventure filled with puzzles and challenging clues to crack! Have you got what it takes? Navigate through the forest and try to come out victorious!
Food & Drink Hungry? Enjoy a bite to eat at the onsite cafe or set up camp in the excellent picnic area. Nothing beats eating a sandwich with a beautiful backdrop behind you. Selfie & a sandwich anyone?

The newest addition to Go Ape Dalkeith is set within the forest and on the banks of the River Esk, our swanky new Forest Shelter.
It's the perfect addition to an unforgettable children's activity birthday party. It's your party room in the great outdoors, where you can blow out the candles, play games, and serve party food!
The forest shelter can also be used as part of a corporate away day and picnics (although food is not provided).
