About Penistone Leisure Centre

Enjoy a roller skating session at Penistone Leisure Centre - it’s fun and anyone can do it! You have a choice of different skating sessions to match your needs and abilities.

Want to skate with the little ones, or help them find their feet on skates? Join a Family Session - it’s a slow-paced and easy-going experience, perfect for younger kids. Fancy busting some moves on the dance floor? Penistone Leisure Centre organises special disco sessions for adults (every 2nd Saturday of the month) and for teens in school years 7-9 (every 3rd Friday of the month).

There's something for everyone at Penistone Leisure Centre! Whether it's our Public Skate sessions held every weekend or one of our many midweek fitness sessions like Pilates or Walking Netball, find your next thing with us. You can also book us for private sessions and play table tennis or badminton, or even have your party here.

Affordable Family Fun, Powered by Local Charity

We are run by local charity Sporting Penistone, which means our goal is to provide an affordable community space for all. We ensure the prices for all our events and activities are kept low to keep the Centre accessible and maximise fun without minimising your bank account. Who doesn't love a cheap thrill?

Barnsley’s Premier Place for Roller Disco

Our recently renovated community hall space is home to Barnsley's only Roller skating spot! We hold Public Skate sessions every weekend which are always popular, complete with lights and music (requests taken). We also have monthly Late Skate and Teen GLOW Skate sessions for adults and teens exlusively. Don't have your own skates? Don't worry- We provide skate equipment free to rent. You can also hire us out for a Skate party for up to 40 people, with both catered or self-catered options available.

Sessions and Activities for everyone!

We hold so many different events and activities every week, there's no way you could try them all! Whether it's a class like Tap Dancing, Tai Chi or Karate, or fitness sessions like walking netball or Penactive, to creative endeavours like the Print Club or Art @ The Hub, we have it! Fancy a family activity? You can book tables for table tennis, or a court for badminton/pickleball (max 4 players) and have a family tournament. We also have a gym and fitness room, welcome for all ages and abilities.
