Attraction Information
Locke Park is a popular park in Barnsley that offers some pleasing green space for ball games and picnicking, plus a play area for children up to 10 years old including climbing frames for different ages and a basket swing. There's also a sand pit, paddling pool, cafe, bowling green and tennis courts so there's actually loads to do if you make the most of it all.
Well surfaced and accessible paths are spread around the park ideal for the kids to scoot, skate or bike. There's also the bandstand and a listed tower to (partially) explore. Because there's not too much there it might well be worth bringing some fun along with you! Boules, bats and balls, frisbees and kites are all great day savers for if the playground's packed or the kids fancy something else!
The main car park is on Keresforth Hill Road and is serviced nearby by South Yorkshire Buses. It's not too far from the shops either so with a bit of planning this can be a midday retreat for a snack lunch and play in between the things you have to do in town.
