About Castle Hill and Victoria Tower

Perfect weather for a walk? Pack up your picnic bags, load the kids into the car and head out to Castle Hill. The climb is a bit steep but the views are worth it! You’ll feel like you’re on top of the world.

Victoria Tower up on Castle Hill is one of Huddersfield’s most iconic landmarks; you can see it from almost anywhere. It’s packed full of exciting history, dating back 4000 years ago. Visit the tower and discover its fascinating past - from a fort from the Iron Age, to a long-gone castle on the hill during the Middle Ages, to a commemorative tower built for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee of 1897.
