About Ludlow Castle

Have a family who loves history? Take a trip to Ludlow Castle, one of the finest medieval castles in England! Discover its range of medieval buildings and varied history, from the Norman Fortress and Fortified Palace to the Administrative Centre. It's now become a magnificent romantic ruin.

About Ludlow Castle

Owned by the Earl of Powis Estates since the early 19th century, Ludlow Castle was bought to prevent its destruction. In the Middle Ages, this historic building stood as a stronghold for control of the Welsh Borders. As well as being the seat of the English government!

It's now been passed down through the family and is open to the public!

Explore Towering Battlements

Climb the castle’s ancient towers and take in breathtaking views of Ludlow and the surrounding Shropshire countryside! Kids will love pretending to be brave knights on the lookout, while parents enjoy the stunning scenery. Don’t forget your camera - this is one family photo spot you won’t want to miss!

Step Into Medieval History

Ludlow Castle is bursting with fascinating stories! Walk through the grand Great Hall, discover the ruins of the royal apartments, and stand where kings and queens once ruled.

With plenty of space to run, explore, and imagine, it’s the perfect place for young adventurers to bring history to life!

Relax with a Treat in the Castle Grounds

Treat yourself with a trip to an independent art and jewellery shops. Or head to the tea rooms for a traditional English tea!

Extend you visit by sleeping over in their 5* self-catering apartments for 3,4, and 7-night stays, plus function rooms for hire.
