Attraction Information
Central to the 1700 acres of Brockhampton Estate is Lower Brockhampton, a 14th century fairytale manor house complete with filled moat, gatehouse and a boding ruined Norman chapel: a treat for any imaginative child! There are also kids' activity packs available on loan within the house, plus a kids' quiz trail to follow.
Outside there are several established way-marked nature trails of varying length, 3 differing orienteering course routes and a new Paradise Valley Walking Trail too. The orchards by the river are a peaceful spot to lounge and picnic in, and there are 5 farms and 40 rural dwellings spread over the 1,700 acres plus numerous rest spots and bird hides.
There are family oriented special events and activities laid on most school holidays, ranging from moat dipping and learning to make a bird box to full on battle reenactments, so it's well worth keeping an eye out and timing a visit to coincide with extra fun.
