We are a female-owned destination bookshop and coffee shop set in a fabulous, beautiful rural area with cows grazing in the fields next door. We just cannot begin to tell you how beautiful our space is - light and airy and welcoming - set in a picture-postcard pretty village in north Herefordshire. The location itself is worth a visit, and you can walk through the village from the shop to see the thatched cottages, historic church, fabulous cloud hedge and beautiful parkland. We have a huge range of secondhand and new books for the whole family to browse, including a whole kids section complete with a castle! We are spread across two floors and are easily one of the biggest bookshops in the region, meaning that our range of books is unrivalled in the area, with books priced very reasonably. We have lots of specialist, unusual and interesting secondhand books across all topics: history, archeology, nature, art, architecture, religion, politics, travel, transport, biography, music, poetry, plays, craft, local interest and fiction, plus our childrens section which covers all age ranges in fiction and non-fiction. We are expanding our range of recently published books, particularly specialising in contemporary fiction, local interest and smaller publishers, including Welsh publishers. In addition to books, we also have cards, maps, prints, DVDs, CDs and some annuals and anime. Our monthly bookgroup meets on a Wednesday evening and reads a range of books, including recent releases, older fiction and classics. We can order in books for customers as needed and are always happy to talk about books, recommend books, find books and... talk about books some more. We sell and accept National Book Tokens. The cafe serves hot and cold drinks, homemade cakes and light lunches, with plenty of space for pushchairs and seating inside and outside. All of our cakes are homemade, and usually include gluten free and vegan options. Our baps for lunch are from a local bakery, our ham and bacon are sourced from a local butchers, and our apple juice is from a local supplier who presses heritage varieties of apples. We have lots of free parking, accessible toilets, and well behaved dogs on leads are welcome. We are located well for some great cycling routes and welcome cyclists, including groups, with have plenty of space for bike parking. We run events for adults and for kids, including storytelling, craft activities, book groups, flea markets and more and have just started doing a monthly supper club featuring recipes from the books on our shelves. Our summer programme includes craft workshops for kids, and we are also running a kids books swap for children to trade in the books they don't want any more for something different. The chjildrens bookshop can be hired for those wanting to run their own workshop or event and we already have some great workshops running this way, including in botanical drawing and calligraphy. We welcome groups that want somewhere informal to meet - as long as people buy coffee from us, you are welcome to sit and chat together with no problem as there is plenty of space here.
