About Family Art Saturdays
Family Art Saturdays provides everyone aged 3 to 100+ an opportunity to spend two hours together in a calm, creative environment. It takes people out of the busy stresses of modern life to spend time with each other rather than on screens.
WHAT DO WE DO AT A FAMILY ART SATURDAY?
While at Family Art Saturdays, you can engage creatively and imaginatively together for two hours, choosing to paint from a wide choice of ceramics and wood craft. Everyone has an opportunity to complete a unique piece of art on canvas or using clay.
Ceramic options include: Footballs, cats, dogs, lighthouse tea light holders, bird boxes, rockets, dinosaurs, hedgehog tea light holders, coasters, bud vases.
Wood craft options include: Flowers, seaside beach hut, trinket boxes, pencil holder, house with draw, treasure chests.
Canvases are of two different sizes and a good size for drawing and painting a unique piece of art to take home at the end of the session.
Clay is the air - dry variety and is sold in 200gram bundles. We provide a variety of clay tools to help any budding artist to create a unique work of art.
We use a range of acrylic paints, paint brushes, pencils to aid the creation of our masterpiece.
WHO ATTENDS A FAMILY ART SATURDAY?
Our events are open to everyone aged 3 to 100+. You are never too old to be creative!
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult family member who is responsible for them at all times.
HOW MUCH IS IT TO ATTEND A FAMILY ART SATURDAY?
It is free to attend and once in the Harrison Room, you will have access to ceramics/ wood craft items/ canvas and clay all at affordable prices ranging from £3 to £12. These items can be paid via Tap & Pay on the day.

CAN AN ADULT ATTEND THE SESSION WITHOUT A CHILD?
Yes it is possible for adults of any age to join in with family atmosphere.
WHAT ARE THE MANY BENEFITS OF PAINTING AND BEING CREATIVE?
More and more research articles are explaining the importance of arts and crafts in providing healing qualities for the body and mind. In one article written by the NHS it talks in depth about the 'act of creating engages the brain in ways that promote relaxation and mindfulness, reducing the production of stress hormones like cortisol and fostering a state of calm. Creative expression provides a safe outlet for emotions that may be difficult to articulate, promoting emotional release and self-awareness. Physically, the repetitive and focused nature of many crafts can be meditative, improving fine motor skills and cognitive function'.

Family Art Saturdays is unique as it is run by a qualified teacher with 28 years of experience who has also been a SENCO and a Head Teacher. The organiser has had lots of experience when working with children and their families and is able to adapt easily to people's needs.
